And now on to the news:
Here’s one person’s take on the one gun they will never sell. In our case, it’s more like the 20 guns we’ll never sell:
The more the government tries to tighten their grip on gun owners, the more we see guns slipping through the cracks. Now the government wants to add many more restrictions to gun ownership, without even passing any new laws:
So you like big-bore handguns? Here are a few for your consideration:
For your perusal, here is an article from the Phoenix New Times about staunch gun-rights advocate Alan Korwin. It’s long, and a very good read. If you are looking for “ammunition” for your pro-gun or anti-gun position, you’ll find both in the article. If you read it with an open mind, you will find that the anti-gun quotes are using junk science to refute real science. And in some cases, the numbers are just comical. Following one quote from an anti-gunner, there should have been over 8,140,000 homicides in the US last year, instead of the roughly 10,000 that occurred. The majority of homicides, by the way, involve know criminals and gang members, Anyway, it’s a long article but well worth the read:
Now this article is much easier to read, and contains only distorted facts.
So how reliable are AK rifles? Here’s an anecdotal writeup from a gun range that rents them:
But hey, as long as your AK is working, here’s how to reload it one-handed:
You know that we are staunch advocates of firearms training, but not from this guy!
This is certainly going to be controversial, but here’s TFB’s take on the 5 most influential pistols of all time:
We get asked frequently about travelling throughout the US with firearms. Here is a good guide:
If you own a Remington 700 with the XMark Pro trigger, it has been recalled:
If you are tired of all the anti-gun legislation, then vote! It is now easier than ever to register, and you can be a permanent vote-by-mail constituent. If we all stick together, we can easily fight back!
The Armed Citizen
It has been said (repeatedly) that armed citizens repel over 2,000 attacks EACH DAY, and that most go unreported. Here are a few that did get reported:
Car owner 1, assailant 0:
Here are the craziest crimes of the week:
Here are the most uplifting stories of the week:
Here’s a handy link to US gun laws, by state:
Do you know someone who is new to the shooting sport, and needs training? There is an excellent course being taught each month by Bill Tidwell, at the Livermore Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club. This is an all-day course that covers everything for the new shooter, including how firearms work, safety, cleaning, purchasing, and the fundamentals of marksmanship. There are separate courses for Pistol and Shotgun. The Pistol course is taught the first Saturday of each month, and the shotgun course is taught the next day. For more information, and to sign up for a class, visit www.train2besafe.com
The next 35-state CCW course will be held on Sunday, July 19th, from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm. The $150 course fee includes all the required training, plus photos, notarized document, and fingerprinting required for your Utah non-resident CCW, plus the required training & photo needed for your Florida non-resident CCW. Sign up at http://www.alphasafetytraining.net/ Please note that this course now qualifies you for an Arizona permit, however, the Arizona permit is no longer honored in Nevada. One could start a career tracking what CCWs are honored in what states!
The next reloading class will be held on Saturday, June 27, from 10am till 4:00 pm. The $80 course fee covers all materials needed for the class. You will receive hands-on training with an RCBS rock chucker single-stage press as well as a Dillon progressive press. Lecture topics include precision reloading for the long-range rifle shooter as well as high-volume reloading for pistol & action shooters. Secure your place in the course by prepaying (cash only, please) at the shop; prepayment guarantees you a spot in the course.
