Update July 1, 2015

July 1, 2015 4:29 pm

Hi all,

This is so good I’m putting it in twice –

The Pleasanton/Livermore Friends of the NRA dinner is coming soon – August 1 starting at 5:30pm.  Prepare yourself for a really good time, with some really good people, for a really good cause.   Really!  Advance ticket sales only – no tickets at the door.  Here’s the website to secure your attendance:

June and July are turning out to be consignment months here at the shop.  We continue to receive used firearms on a consistent basis, and there have been inquiries about estate sales through our shop.  Right now, the following firearms are on consignment (sorry, some pricing not available at press time.)

As we mentioned last week, the good folks at the Livermore Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club are offering an outstanding deal to shooters: bring a receipt for a newly purchased gun, and they will let you shoot for free.  What a bunch of great people!  Soon we will have flyers in the shop advertising this, but you don’t have to wait.  Find your receipts!  Please understand that you must bring a receipt (not your 4473 or anything else), and it will be stamped because it’s 1 free shoot per gun.  Still, it’s a great offer from a really nice range.

PWS is offering free swag with the purchase of a new PWS rifle from an authorized dealer between 7/1/15 and 8/31/15.  Go to http://primaryweapons.com/register to register your rifle.

Daniel Defense is offering a $125 credit on their site for any new rifle you buy through a retailer.  The credit can be used towards any DD accessories that you may like.  Also, we are offering $200 off any DDM4V9 rifle in stock!

Just a friendly reminder to keep your eyes on our Facebook & Twitter posts!  If you are looking for a certain rifle, pistol or shotgun, or ammo, following us on social media gets you the fastest information on what we have in stock.  There are buttons on our website for Facebook & Twitter to make it as easy as possible.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.  If there is anything you would like to see in this newsletter, drop us a line and let us know!

And now on to the news:

NBC tried to do a hitpiece on guns, and from what I see, it backfired:

Usually we hear that almost 50% of American adults own guns.  Reuters says it’s closer to 33%:

This weekend Jeb Bush went on record stating that none of the Administrations plans for gun control would have prevented any of the recent tragedies.  He’s right, of course, but that won’t stop some from excoriating him:

Here’s one person’s view of a roadmap to eliminate the 2nd ammendment.  The best quote in the article is “…now that the United States Supreme Court appears to be open to reaching decisions based on political considerations and public pressure, as opposed to basing their decisions solely on the U.S. Constitution.”

SCOTUS just affirmed that you can’t take a gun into a Post Office.  Even if you are shipping it.

Are we getting smarter?  According to CNN, yes.

I’m heartened to see federal legislation progressing that would prevent the ATF from reclassifying firearms and ammunition.  This in response to the BATFE attempting to reclassify 5.56 green tip as armor piercing.

Here’s a question no one has ever asked us – just how many iPhones does it take to stop an AK-74?

Geissele, through their sister company ALG Defense, has announced a great new trigger for your AK rifle. Think S3G for your AK!

We get asked frequently about travelling throughout the US with firearms.  Here is a good guide:

If you own a Remington 700 with the XMark Pro trigger, it has been recalled:

If you are tired of all the anti-gun legislation, then vote!  It is now easier than ever to register, and you can be a permanent vote-by-mail constituent.  If we all stick together, we can easily fight back!

The Armed Citizen

It has been said (repeatedly) that armed citizens repel over 2,000 attacks EACH DAY, and that most go unreported.  Here are a few that did get reported:

Armed driver 1, armed robber 0:

CCW Good Samaritan 1, Carjacker 0:

Car owner 1, assailant 0:

Training update

Do you know someone who is new to the shooting sport, and needs training?  There is an excellent course being taught each month by Bill Tidwell, at the Livermore Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club.  This is an all-day course that covers everything for the new shooter, including how firearms work, safety, cleaning, purchasing, and the fundamentals of marksmanship.  There are separate courses for Pistol and Shotgun.  The Pistol course is taught the first Saturday of each month, and the shotgun course is taught the next day.  For more information, and to sign up for a class, visit www.train2besafe.com

The next 35-state CCW course will be held on  Sunday, July 19th,  from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm. The $150 course fee includes all the required training, plus photos, notarized document, and fingerprinting required for your Utah non-resident CCW, plus the required training & photo needed for your Florida non-resident CCW. Sign up at http://www.alphasafetytraining.net/ Please note that this course now qualifies you for an Arizona permit, however, the Arizona permit is no longer honored in Nevada.  One could start a career tracking what CCWs are honored in what states!

The next reloading class will be held on a future Saturday, from 10am till 4:00 pm.  The $80 course fee covers all materials needed for the class.  You will receive hands-on training with an RCBS rock chucker single-stage press as well as a Dillon progressive press.  Lecture topics include precision reloading for the long-range rifle shooter as well as high-volume reloading for pistol & action shooters.  Secure your place in the course by prepaying (cash only, please) at the shop; prepayment guarantees you a spot in the course.
