A couple of dates you need to be aware of:

The Pleasanton/Livermore Friends of the NRA dinner is coming soon – August 1 starting at 5:30pm.  Prepare yourself for a really good time, with some really good people, for a really good cause.   Really!  Advance ticket sales only – no tickets at the door.  Here’s the website to secure your attendance: https://www.friendsofnra.org/eventdetails.aspx?eid=52178&sid=5

Also on August 1st is the next reloading class.  The $80 fee covers all materials, and you will learn both single-stage and progressive presses.  More info at the end of the newsletter…

The Ruger LC380 now has a CA approved version.  We have them in stock, priced at $449.95

Also in stock is the Charter Arms Pathfinder in .22lr for $429.95.  Remember, it’s snake season…

We have the Smith & Wesson 617 in priced at $724.95, and the 686 4 inch priced at $799.95

Many of you have been inquiring about CZ75 pistols.  We have the 75B in stock in 9mm priced at $679.95

Finally, we have Springfield MC Operator and EMP pistols in stock.  Call for pricing.

On the rifle front, we have the Daniel Defense V11 priced at $1649.95

And the Remington 700 SPS Tactical w/threaded barrel .308 $789.95

Would you like the coolest toy on the block?  Tired of spending all that money on amo, when you could be shooting something cheaper and more exciting?  Check out the X-Products Can Cannon upper for your AR rifle.  Not only do soda cans fit perfectly in the muzzle, there are many other interesting applications for this upper.  Priced at $395 it’s a lot of bang for the buck.

A lot of you have been asking, and we are happy to report that we now have American Eagle XM855 and .25 Auto in stock

As we mentioned last week, the good folks at the Livermore Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club are offering an outstanding deal to shooters: bring a receipt for a newly purchased gun, and they will let you shoot for free.  What a bunch of great people!  Soon we will have flyers in the shop advertising this, but you don’t have to wait.  Find your receipts!  Please understand that you must bring a receipt (not your 4473 or anything else), and it will be stamped because it’s 1 free shoot per gun.  Still, it’s a great offer from a really nice range.

PWS is offering free swag with the purchase of a new PWS rifle from an authorized dealer between 7/1/15 and 8/31/15.  Go to http://primaryweapons.com/register to register your rifle.

Daniel Defense is offering a $125 credit on their site for any new rifle you buy through a retailer.  The credit can be used towards any DD accessories that you may like.  Also, we are offering $200 off any DDM4V9 rifle in stock!

Just a friendly reminder to keep your eyes on our Facebook & Twitter posts!  If you are looking for a certain rifle, pistol or shotgun, or ammo, following us on social media gets you the fastest information on what we have in stock.  There are buttons on our website for Facebook & Twitter to make it as easy as possible. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.  If there is anything you would like to see in this newsletter, drop us a line and let us know!

And now on to the news:

This is a great article on why gun control is the wrong solution to the nation’s violence problem:

http://townhall.com/columnists/alankorwin/2015/07/04/church-psychopaths-as-law-givers-n2021360/page/full

After reading that, read Hillary Clinton’s anti-gun speech here.  Play-by-play from the book – preach “common-sense gun control” that is anything but, followed by laws that will do nothing to limit gun violence.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/07/05/1399202/-Hillary-News-Views-Independence-Day-Edition#

So what are the “common sense” laws that are being bandied about?  Glad you asked!

https://slowfacts.wordpress.com/2015/07/04/is-that-common-sense-gun-control-or-more-spin/

There are currently 8 states that generally do not report to the FBI when a person is adjudicated mentally defective, and many more that do a poor job of it.  The NSSF and NRA have been campaigning for years to get this fixed, but the problem still exists.  The good news is that now there is a nationwide spotlight on the mentally ill getting guns.

Based on a 2013 study of 4,000 people, a study concludes that the number of gun owners in America is down to 33% of the population. However, it is widely known that a large percentage of gun owners do not admit to owning firearms.  Add the fact that 4,000 is a really small sample, and we are not sure how accurate the survey is.  The comments on the website reporting the news , however, are either comical or frightening, depending on how seriously you take them.  We would rather be identified as a RWNJ than a LWPII! http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2015/06/gun-owners-study-one-in-three

Which would you rather have between you and the muzzle of a 50AE Desert Eagle, a bullet-resistant vest or 10 bottles of soda?

The Armed Citizen

It has been said (repeatedly) that armed citizens repel over 2,000 attacks EACH DAY, and that most go unreported.  Here are a few that did get reported:

Training update

Do you know someone who is new to the shooting sport, and needs training?  There is an excellent course being taught each month by Bill Tidwell, at the Livermore Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club.  This is an all-day course that covers everything for the new shooter, including how firearms work, safety, cleaning, purchasing, and the fundamentals of marksmanship.  There are separate courses for Pistol and Shotgun.  The Pistol course is taught the first Saturday of each month, and the shotgun course is taught the next day.  For more information, and to sign up for a class, visit www.train2besafe.com

The next 35-state CCW course will be held on  Sunday, July 19th,  from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm. The $150 course fee includes all the required training, plus photos, notarized document, and fingerprinting required for your Utah non-resident CCW, plus the required training & photo needed for your Florida non-resident CCW. Sign up at http://www.alphasafetytraining.net/ Please note that this course now qualifies you for an Arizona permit, however, the Arizona permit is once again honored in Nevada.  One could start a career tracking what CCWs are honored in what states!

The next reloading class will be held on  Saturday, August 1st, from 10am till 4:00 pm.  The $80 course fee covers all materials needed for the class.  You will receive hands-on training with an RCBS rock chucker single-stage press as well as a Dillon progressive press.  Lecture topics include precision reloading for the long-range rifle shooter as well as high-volume reloading for pistol & action shooters.  Secure your place in the course by prepaying (cash only, please) at the shop; prepayment guarantees you a spot in the course.
