Update March 11 2015

March 9, 2015 2:09 pm

Hi all, It’s been three months since our last post and many of you have been asking why there haven’t been any updates.  As some of you have discovered, your humble author was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer last October, and has been undergoing periodic chemotherapy treatments ever since.  To those of you who already knew about this sudden change of life, your thoughts, well wishes, and prayers are greatly appreciated.  This event has curtailed work on several fronts, and has led to changes in the shop itself.  We are in the process of changing the leadership at J&R, and we hope you will bear with us as these changes are implemented.  We are confident that the store you have come to know and love will emerge stronger and better than ever.  We will continue to post updates, but on a less frequent basis.  If you desire more updates, please let your wishes be known.  With or without these updates, we will continue to have weekly sales and deals. Speaking of deals, we have the Aimpoint PRO red dot optic back in stock, sale priced at $359.95 (normally $459.95) The Sig 516 patrol rifle is on sale for $1529.95 Daniel Defense DDM4V5 rifles are on clearance at $1549.95 The DDM4V9 & V9LW rifles are $1499.95 We also have complete DD uppers, priced at $959.95 (regularly $1079.95) We also have a Smith & Wesson 686 6″ .357 priced to sell at $829 Many of you know that the Bersa Thunder 380... Update November 21, 2014

November 21, 2014 6:37 pm

Hi all, We’ve all heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but have you heard of Small Business Saturday?  That’s the Saturday after Thanksgiving when all patriotic Americans are supposed to shop at their local businesses, to help them stave off the large chain stores.  At least, that’s the message from marketing folks who dream this stuff up to get you to part with your money.  Anywho, we are participating in Small Business Saturday, mostly because we will be understaffed on Friday and unable to handle the large volume of business we are expecting from our sale.  Yes, it should be that good.  Some things we are offering on Small Business Saturday November 29: First, we are getting a large shipment of .22lr in just before the sale.  For example, we will have CCI MiniMag 100 round boxes for $9.95, limit 10 boxes.  Also, we will have Federal Auto Match 325 round boxes for $19.95, limit 2 boxes We will also have CCI .17HMR for $16.95 per box Federal XM855 150 round boxes for $63.95 For you match shooters, we have cases of Black Hills .308 ammo for sale.  This is the best ammo I’ve ever come across, at least in my rifles.  We have the standard 168gr for $589.95 for a case of 500, and $649.95 for the moly-coated ammo.  Not cheap, but this ammunition is super accurate. We also have case deals on Hornady Critical Defense and Critical Duty ammunition, priced lower than ever before.  Available calibers are .380,... View Article

Hi all, We are celebrating Glocktober month at J&R!  This is your chance to get a brand new shiny Glock pistol at an outsanding price.  Plus, we are accepting trade-ins towards that new Glock.  So check your collection for any safe-queens that never see the light of day, and head on down to J&R.  The pricing for this special event is as follows: Glock 17, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27 $499. As we wrote last week, sales of AR and AK pistols are brisk right now, because of the impending ban on new sales.  We have a very good selection on hand, and prices start as low as $869.95 for Diamondback AR pistols.  We got our first look at Diamondback AR pistols when several members of one Bay Area PD bought them through us.  After thorough examination, we see that Diamondback makes a very good AR pistol at an outstanding price.  If your budget is a little higher, we also have AR pistols from Sig Sauer, Daniel Defense, Phase 5 Tactical, Primary Weapons Systems, and others.  There is still time to place an order with some of the manufacturers to get your pistol before the December 31 deadline. All in-stock AR rifles are on sale, priced too low... View Article

Update October 1, 2014

October 1, 2014 2:40 pm

Hi all, It’s been quite a while since my last post, and several things of interest are worth writing about. To the sound of champagne corks popping, I am happy to tell you that Governor Brown vetoed SB808, the “ghost gun” ban.  The bill would have (illegally, in my opinion) forced Californians to register their home made firearms with the CA DOJ, who would issue serial numbers for each firearm.  Governor Brown wisely vetoed the bill, saying that it wouldn’t significantly enhance public safety. Earlier in the year, Governor Brown signed legislation effectively ending the single-shot exemption for CA handguns.  Many businesses (not ours) have been selling all “off-roster” handguns by modifying them to be single-shot pistols, then modifying them back to semi-auto after purchase.  This practice will cease as of December 31, 2014.  One way this does affect us (and you) is that we have been selling single-shot AR and AK pistols that were manufactured as single-shot pistols.  These can be modified to be semi-automatic by the purchaser after the registration process is complete.  Unless you purchase and register them by December 31 of this year, you won’t be able to purchase them after that date.  Some customers are buying several of them, intending to sell them at a good profit next year.  If you have been thinking of getting an AR or AK pistol, now is the time.  Prices start below $1,000.  Forewarned is forearmed! Now that all of the full-sized Smith & Wesson M&P pistols have gone... View Article

Weekly Update July 9, 2014

July 10, 2014 1:26 pm

Hi all, We have three important messages this week, which preempt our normal newsletter. First,  believe it or not, I’m going to jail and I need your help. On August 7th at 11:00 an officer from Livermore PD will pick me up and take me to the Outback in Dublin for booking.  While it’s not a real jail, it’s even more important as I’m raising bail to help children and adults with muscle disease in my community who are supported by the vital work of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). I might not be able to rely on good behavior to get out so that’s why I need your help – I need you to donate to my bail! Just click on the donation link below to make a secure donation – I know that together we’ll Make a Muscle and Make a Difference in the fight against muscle disease. http://www2.mda.org/goto/randycollins Second, we welcome the return of our favorite warrior Jim “Doc” Amentler, who has safely completed his mission overseas.  Doc will once again start teaching his 40+ state CCW course, starting Sunday, August 17th.  Doc has graciously agreed to hold more courses to meet demand.  See the details below. Now for the more adventurous among you:  Have you heard of Urban Shield?  Hopefully you have, but if not, check it out here: https://www.urbanshield.org/ Simply put, Urban Shield is the preeminent first-responder training exercise in the nation.  First envisioned by our Sheriff Greg Ahern, Urban Shield has grown to be the... Weekly Update May 14, 2014

May 15, 2014 8:30 am

Hi all, As you all know by now, Ruger will not be paying to keep their semi-auto pistols on the CA roster.  Many of the MKIII pistols have already fallen off the list.  We have ordered (5) of the MKIII512 pistols (# 10158), and those will probably be the last MKIII pistols that we will get. Priced at $364.95, first come first served. We have many Sig Sauer pistols in stock for immediate delivery.  For the next week, any Sig Sauer pistol over $500 comes with a free DROS if you mention this newsletter. Speaking of pistols, we have one Les Baer SRP pistol left in stock.  This is a beautiful 1911 style pistol that is made by the pistolsmiths at Les Baer.  It comes with its own display case to show the world you just spent a bundle on a custom 1911.  Priced at $2564.95 We managed to get a Smith & Wesson 686+ with a 2 1/2″ barrel, priced at $839.95.  All of the 586/686 revolvers have been hard to come by the last couple of years so it’s nice to have at least one in the shop. If an AR-style pistol floats your boat, we have PWS MK1 pistols on order, for $1949.95.  We have received so many requests for their 10.5″ barrel model that we ordered several.  Stop by to place a pre-order and we will guarantee that you get one when they arrive. If you are an LEO, we have a Glock model 41 Gen... View Article
